Dr. Al-Niaimi is currently the head of surgical quality outcome for the department of OBGYN and the chair of the Quality Improvement and Review (QIRC) committee. His passion is implementing innovative surgical techniques to improve and promote achieving optimal surgical debulking of ovarian cancer, specifically in the upper abdomen. His other passion is to push the learning curve on minimally invasive surgery and promote the use of single port laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Al-Niaimi's approach to cancer treatment is simple: patients come first. This means optimizing surgical outcomes as well as chemotherapy and radiotherapy to achieve the best cancer care for patients so they can live life to the fullest. Dr. Al-Niaimi’s academic activity, other than his busy surgical practice, is the head of the quality surgical outcome for the division of Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Wisconsin. He is also the creator and manager of divisional GOLD-CUP (the Gynecologic Oncology Longitudinal Data Collection and Utilization Project), as well as the OLIVIA (Obstetrics, Labor and Infant Visualization of Informatic Application). Both are computer programs that track clinical outcome metrics and logistical data collection. Dr. Al-Niaimi's research interests include optimization of health outcomes, such as post-operative complications and the effect of patient medical comorbidities and surgical techniques on surgical and oncologic outcomes. He has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and has been active in presenting research at national conferences. He is also involved in many national courses as an instructor of surgical techniques for gynecologic oncologists.
