Lieutenant Commander Eugene E. Mamaril is a native of San Diego, California. He was commissioned in 2010 through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Program where he received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Point Loma Nazarene University. Mamaril holds a Master of Science in Nursing with a Healthcare and Nursing Leadership Concentration from Duke University (2015) and graduated with a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Duke University (2020).
Mamaril’s previous assignments include Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, California; Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Virginia; U.S. Naval Hospital Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; and Fleet Surgical Team NINE, San Diego, California.
Operationally, he served aboard the hospital ship USNS Comfort (T-AH-20) as a perioperative registered nurse during Continuing Promise 2015, aboard USS Somerset (LPD 25) for Artic Expeditionary Capabilities Exercise 2019, and established surgical capabilities aboard USS Tripoli (LHA 7) on her maiden voyage during a challenging homeport shift between two area of responsibilities.
Mamaril currently provides leadership for Naval Medical Readiness and Training Command - San Diego to the Sterile Processing Department, serving more than 51 clinics and the Pacific Fleet reprocessing surgical instrumentation.
Mamaril is an active member of Association of PeriOperative Registered Nurses (AORN), The Healthcare Sterile Processing Association, and the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).
His personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards) and various service and personal awards.
