Margaret has been a perioperative registered nurse for over 10 years and has had various roles in the operating room. After graduating with her BSN in 2012, she began her career as a staff nurse at a Level 1 Trauma Center in Lehigh Valley Pennsylvania. After two years, she moved closer to home and began her career at Pennsylvania Hospital, and Entity if Penn Medicine. Her career continued to progress from staff nurse to clinical coordinator of the cardiac and vascular service line. After completing her MSN in Nurse Education in 2018, she naturally accepted the role as Clinical Nurse Education Specialist for her unit. Overseeing over 120 staff members, Margaret is responsible for professional development opportunities, quality improvement initiatives and a facilitator of the AORN Periop 101 program. In addition to her hospital based career, Margaret serves as adjunct faculty for Delaware County Community College's Perioperative Nursing Course.
Margaret is an active member of the AORN Clinical Nurse Speciality Assembly and is looking forward to collaborating with other educators on a novice nurse column in the AORN Journal. She has multiple publications including poster presentations, publications in AORN Journal and served as an editor for Alexander's Care of the Patient in Surgery 17th Edition. Margaret looks forward to completing her DNP from Thomas Jefferson University in 2024 and will focus her scholarly project on improving the quality and safety of the perioperative patient.
