OR Service Leader
Inova Fairfax Hospital
Fairfax, Virginia, United States
I have been a perioperative nurse for over 36 years. Most of my career has been as a staff RN at a level 1 trauma center. I currently am the OR Services Leader for the Pediatric and Urology service lines. I earned my BSN in 1985 from George Mason University, MSN Advanced Clinical Nursing in 2010 from George Mason University, and D.N.P. from Vanderbilt University in 2017. I have had many career accomplishments. Among these is publication of an article in AORN Journal in 2010 discussing strategies for decreasing perioperative anxiety, presentation at AORN Expo in 2019 concerning hand hygiene in the perioperative setting, and holding numerous offices in my local AORN chapter over my career. This is my third year on the AORN Clinical Nursing Practice Committee, and my first year as chair of the committee.
In addition to my perioperative nursing accomplishments, I am now an Adjunct Professor of Nursing at the Shenandoah University School of Nursing accellerated BSN program. I have taught students in the academic setting for 4 years now.
