Stella Yau served 6 years in the Marine Corps and 14 years in the Navy. She obtained her BSN in 2003 and has been a perioperative nurse since 2013. As a nurse she has worked in a variety of clinical and administrative roles through the different phases of healthcare. Her vast experience between the military and her nursing career has positioned her well to understand the importance of providing education to sustain quality and meet organizational goals. Her MSN specialization in Nursing Education has exposed her to theoretical foundations of nursing education, curriculum development, instructional design, technology in nursing education, assessment and evaluation of student learning, leadership and management, issues and trends in nursing education, diversity, and cultural competence, ethics, clinical teaching and simulation, and evidence-based teaching and learning practices. As an active leader on AORN of San Diego County’s board, Stella has been a key player in developing educational and social activities for perioperative personnel. She is actively involved in providing regular education to perioperative team members through AORN of San Diego's monthly Journal Club and assists with CNESA's Journal Club as well.
