Joyce Stengel MSN, RN, CNOR is the coordinator for quality and education for the Perioperative Department at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Joyce has worked in multiple roles in the Perioperative department including nurse manager, assistant nurse manager, staff nurse, and Unit Council Chair. Joyce currently identifies and communicates educational needs of the staff, participates in special projects and evidenced based strategies to enhance the effectiveness of care, coordinates and develops ongoing education for nursing staff, coordinates quality assessment and improvement activities for the department, and integrates professional standards and evidence based practice in the development and evaluation of quality initiatives. Joyce has presented at national conferences in addition to webinar and poster presentations and winner of the OR Excellence award for Environmental Stewardship. Joyce currently works as an adjunct professor at Drexel and Widener University teaching Perioperative Nursing.
Joyce completed her BSN at Villanova University and Master of Science in Nursing with an educational focus from the University of Phoenix. Joyce attained her CNOR and is an abstract reviewer for both the ANCC National Magnet Conference and ANA National Conference.
