Imelda Guzman has 20 years of experience in Human Resources (HR), 17 of those with HCA Healthcare. Prior to her DEI Role she served as the VP of Human Resources at Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital. She has worked in many different hospitals within the Methodist Healthcare System as well as different areas of HR. Her biggest accomplishments include leading the HR process for two major acquisitions and establising the first Leadership Development Institute within Methodist Healthcare which is still flourishing today.
Imelda holds a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Human Resources and a MA in Communications from St. Mary’s University, San Antonio TX.
Imelda believes in Community Involvement and continues to give back. She has chaired, fundraised and volunteered for many different events for her alma mater. In 2015 Imelda was chosen as the chair of St. Mary’s University’s Fiesta Oyster Bake, an annual event dedicated to raising scholarships funds for students. As the 3rd woman chosen in the event’s 99 year history she helped continue this tradition. Imelda has also served in various capacities for many non-profits including the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber, Hope for the Future, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Mission San Jose. She currently sits on the board of Central Catholic High School.
In her current role she oversees DEI strategy and operations for the San Antonio and Central West Texas Divisions of HCA. She is proud to bring awareness, acknowlegement and excitement around this most important work
Imelda loves spending her free time with her family and framily (friends that are family) anytime she can. She loves traveling to Port Aransas (her happy place), Texas Road trips, and listening to live Texas Country music. A lover of baseball and its history, she is committed to seeing every ballpark in America.
