BSW East Region Perioperative Educator
Baylor Scott & White Health
I graduated of Lake City Community College in 2008 with an Associate Degree in Nursing. In 2018, I completed my Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Texas Arlington, soon after I also obtained my Certification of Operating Room Nursing (CNOR). I have functioned as both, circulator and scrub nurse within a multi-disciplinary surgical facility, with most of my career being focused in the specialty of Cardiothoracic/Cardiovascular surgery. In 2020, I was employed as CVOR Specialist/Educator for 2 years, then promoted to Baylor Scott & White's Regional Perioperative Educator. I have successfully taught the Periop 101 program numerous times a year, and have created additional learning programs for non-nursing positions to assist with their onboarding and professional development. I have written several submissions for Magnet and Pathways to Excellence re-designations. I practice and teach to the importance of evidence-based practice. Nursing is every evolving and we have to continue to develop and grow with it.
