Jihan Asante has been an employee of New York Presbyterian Hospital for the past 15 years. Jihan started her nursing career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. After becoming a member of the New York Presbyterian team on a medical surgical unit, Jihan pursued her bachelor’s degree at SUNY College Downstate and her Master’s Degree in Public Administration from New York University. In recent years, Jihan received her Nurse Executive Advanced Certification, and was honored as the 2019 Clinical Nurse Excellence Award for Nurse Leader of the year.
As Jihan strives to develop professionally, she accepted a position as the Patient Care Director for peri-operative services although having no peri-operative background. Currently, Jihan is the Patient Care Director for the Peri-operative department which consists of the operating room, post anesthesia care unit, ambulatory surgery unit, endoscopy procedure and recovery areas. Throughout the last 3 1/2 years in this role, Jihan and team have helped facilitate the opening of a new operating room, integration of a successful orthopedics sports medicine service, and cultivated the expansion of the Och Spine hospital services and surgeons. Jihan takes pride in having a highly engaged team striving for patient care excellence, and being a consistent forward-thinking leader, that looks forward to the growth and success of her team as well as the organization.
