Clinical Nurse Manager
New York Presbyterian Allen Hospital
Hello, my name is Ivonne Torres and I have been a Certified Operating Room nurse for the past thirty-seven years. Becoming an OR nurse has always been my passion since I can recall. Helping others at such a critical time has always been my calling. It takes a special kind of person to be an OR nurse mostly it takes a tough mind and soft heart to take care of surgical patients as they are entrusting their lives to our care. My passion for education and teaching tomorrow’s nurses is something I have been most proud of throughout my professional career. I currently hold a master’s degree from Excelsior College, graduated Summa Cum Laude, and majored in Nursing Education. My undergraduate Baccalaureate studies in nursing were done at the York College-City University of New York (CUNY).
Throughout my career, I have held numerous positions in various capacities within Perioperative Services. These have included OR manager in both ambulatory and inpatient Operating Rooms. Some of my other responsibilities have included Endoscopy, OR scheduling, Ambulatory Surgery, and the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). In addition to that, I have been the Director of Sterile Processing, an Infection Control Practitioner, and a Perioperative Educator. Most of my responsibilities have been held at organizations that have included New York Presbyterian Hospital, Mount Sinai Health System Maimonides Medical Center and Northwell
