Barbara is the lead nurse practitioner/ RNFA she currently works with the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical group specializing in urogynecology and gynecology. She has served in a variety of leadership positions over her career and continues to strive for safe patient care. She has served both at the national level with AORN and at the local level. She has served on several committees including the Guidelines Advisory Board, the RNFA futures task force , The AORN Awards committee and she currently serves on the Clinical Nurse Practice Committee. She has also served at the local level as a chapter president and in other various positions for AORN of Baltimore.
She is passionate about perioperative patient care and has done several presentations at both the local and national level on a variety of topics including RSI, Communication, Trends for the APN, and the value of recognition. She has been awarded the Vitteck Award for Academic Excellence, the AORN award for Excellence in Clinical Practice, The Anne Arundel Medical Center Award for Nursing excellence twice, She has also been recognized in 2021 and 2022 for outstanding practice in Women's health and as an advance practice nurse.
