Perioperative Nurse Educator

Emily McKisson was a former Perioperative Nurse Educator for University Hospital, Same Day Surgery Center, and the Ross Heart Hospital Operating Rooms at Ohio State Wexner Medical Center. She has been at OSUWMC since 2014 and has recently transitioned to a new position as an Epic OpTime Trainer.
She is a registered nurse who obtained both her undergraduate and graduate degrees at Mt. Carmel College of Nursing. She holds a certification as an Epic OpTime Analyst and a certified nurse in the operating room. During her time at OSUWMC, she has obtained her Yellow Belt certification from the Fisher College of Business, been involved in multiple quality-related health system programs including RCA Facilitator, CRM Facilitator and perioperative policy creation, review and education. As a perioperative nurse educator, she helped create a standardized onboarding and case tracking system for perioperative nurses as well as a health system perioperative nurse residency program for new graduate nurses. She has also been involved in training programs for surgical residents, medical students, nursing students, and surgical technologist students. Emily is also a guest lecturer at The Ohio State University College of Nursing.
