OR RN
UCHealth North Region - Poudre Valley Hospital
After attending a few AORN conferences in the past, I have always walked away with a vast amount new knowledge and wanted bring new ideas and education to my team. This year a colleague and I are wanting to attend AORN and also contribute by submitting a poster presentation.
As a CNA, I entered the medical field and learned that it takes a team with compassion and hard work to take care of patients. While working as a CNA, I earned my CST degree and started in the Operating Room. Spending many years as a CST, I was encouraged to keep going and never stop learning. This desire to grow in my knowledge lead me to receive my BSN. Taking a break from the OR, I had the chance to work on Medical Oncology. My passion drove me back to the OR where I have spent the last 17 years, 2 of them as an OR educator. I enjoy working with patients, and the surgical team in many different services.
I had the privilege of going on a medical mission to Ethiopia and helping in the OR with cleft lip and palate surgeries. This experience really made what I love about nursing even more amazing, showing again it still takes compassion and hard work to change lives.
