Dr. Coley Vitztum joined Chamberlain University in May 2019 as a Visiting Professor in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program. Since that time, she has been promoted to Assistant Dean of Faculty in the MSN Specialty Track, Dean of Student Engagement and Success in the BSN Online Program and Course Faculty for the Perioperative Program. Dr. Vitztum’s clinical practice includes a 30-year career in perioperative services, 25 of which were in a collaborative practice partnership as an advance practice nurse in orthopedic surgery. It was during this time she obtained certifications specific to perioperative services and as a Registered Nurse First Assistant. She was awarded the APRN Clinical Excellence in Nursing Award as well as the Patient Experience Champion Award for her service in this role. Dr. Vitztum has authored publications including Comprehensive Child and Adolescent Nursing, Orthopaedic Nursing, and The International Journal of Nursing Knowledge. Her educational background includes a baccalaureate and master’s degrees in nursing from the University of Kansas and her Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
