Kara Rachelle Callear, BSN, RN, SCRN works at The Johns Hopkins Hospital as a Lead Clinical Nurse in Endovascular Neuro Interventional Surgery.
Kara started her nursing journey in her hometown in East Tennessee. She graduated from Walters State Community College with an Associates of Science in Nursing, December 2017. Kara then started her career as a Neuro Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, a Comprehensive Stroke Center. Kara immediately understood the importance of neurological care, and wanted to pursue higher knowledge for her patients. She achieved her Stroke Certification (SCRN) in February 2020. Kara then went on to graduate from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing, in May 2021. She remained in the Neuro ICU until June 2021. Kara then moved to Baltimore, MD to follow her dream of working at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Endovascular Neuro Interventional Surgery, a brand new department to the hospital and one of the first of it's kind.
Kara began her journey as a Doctor of Nursing Practice - Family Nurse Practionier (DNP-FNP) student at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville in August 2021. She plans complete her DNP Scholarly Project titled "Improving Arrival to Puncture Time: Implementation of Quality Improvement Project Using Optimization Interventions" at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Kara is passionate about neuro endovascular surgery and looks forward to continuing her career at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Kara is married to her wonderful husband, Ryan Callear. They have 2 sweet cats, Addie & Zoe. In her free time, Kara enjoys powerlifting, attending sporting events (Go Vols), and traveling with her husband, family and friends.
