Kelly Murphy, BSN, RN, NE-BC, is the Magnet Program Manager & the Nursing Peer Review Administrative Liaison at Parkland Health in Dallas, TX. She is part of the Parkland Center for Advancing Professional Practice and Nursing Research (PCAPP) team and is helping to lead their organization on a dual ANCC Pathway to Excellence and Magnet journey. Kelly has been a nurse for more than 18 years, board certified as an executive nurse leader, with a background in adult critical care, solid organ transplant coordination, and Nursing Excellence work with over 10 years of nursing leadership experience. She previously managed an 18-bed adult Surgical ICU as the SICU Nurse Manager at UT Southwestern Medical Center, as well as helped lead UTSW on their Magnet re-designation. She is an active member of ANA, TNA, NTONL, Sigma Theta Tau Dallas Beta Chapter, as well as several of the DEI Employee Resource Groups at Parkland.
She has won many nursing excellence awards throughout her career, but among the most prestigious are the D Magazine Excellence in Nursing Award, and she was named one of the DFW Great 100 Nurses in 2022. Kelly has presented locally, at the state &national level on several occasions with poster & podium presentations on a variety of topics and co-authored a manuscript regarding a research study her team lead in the SICU. Kelly is passionate about Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, and sits on the DEI Steering Committee, to help support planning & delivery DEI efforts including training, resources & initiatives to elevate equity & cultivate a climate of inclusion & allyship across Parkland. She is an active member of the UT Southwestern Neuroscience Nursing Research Council Advisory Board. Kelly is passionate about advancing & elevating the nursing profession, as as QI/PI, Research & EBP, & patient & employee experience.
