OhioHealth Mansfield
Mansfield, Ohio, United States
I have been a Registered Nurse 19 years. I worked roughly five years in a surgical step down at a large academic medical center. I made the transfer to the Operating Room at the same facility and worked about a year on the transplant team. As my family grew, I decided I needed to be closer to family. I accepted a position in the Operating Room at the hospital in my home town. After working a couple years in the Main OR, I transitioned to charge nurse. I spent about four years as charge before transferring to the open heart team. I worked in Open Heart about three years before switching back to the main OR and becoming clinical lead over GYN. As time passed, other clinical leads left and I took over as lead for additional service lines.
In 2018, I became an RNFA. Surgery is my passion and I love every part of my job. In my role, I am able to precept new staff nurses. I am able to mentor new clinical leads and new RNFAs. As clinical lead, I am able to help grow programs as well as find ways to reduce wasted resources. Growing and learning are passions of mine. In striving to become more involved in the field I love, I recently became cochair of Education for the RNFA Specialty Assembly. I look forward to seeing what new opportunities await and new ways to positively impact new and future OR nurses.
