Renee started her career in1989 as a Cytotechnologist at a community hospital in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Over the next 15 years she developed her diagnostic skills and took interest in the design and implementation of Laboratory Information Systems (LIS). In 2006, she took a position with Penn Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) as the LIS Application Analyst for Anatomic Pathology. In this role she designed, built and implemented a new software package utilized by Penn Medicine’s three city hospitals. In 2012, Renee transitioned back to clinical care, taking the role of Supervisor of Cytopathology at HUP. Her scope expanded in 2018 to Technical Manager where she took on the additional responsibilities of quality and safety initiatives with in the laboratory and throughout the hospital and ambulatory practices it supports. Renee has participated in Six Sigma training and is currently a Yellow Belt. She utilizes these skills while working collaboratively with colleagues within the Laboratory and interdepartmentally identifying opportunities for improvement and standardization of laboratory services throughout HUP.
