Assistant professor

As a PhD graduate from the University of Louisville School of Nursing, I am honored to build a framework of nursing research revolving around perioperative nurse practice and the environment as it relates to patient safety in the operating Room (OR). As a former perioperative nurse, I was able to experience the high-risk nature of the OR department, in addition to the recognition how the stage may be set for adverse events to occur. Therefore, I am committed to conducting research relating to mitigating perioperative patient risk. Surgical patients are some of the most vulnerable patients in healthcare, and the surgical team has a prodigious responsibility to be mindful stewards of safety practices for the patients in their care and achieve and sustain a culture of safety in the OR. The perioperative environment is unique, and I am passionate about performing scholarly work in this area and disseminate findings amongst perioperative and administrative personnel.
