Chief Compliance Officer
SurgeryDirect,LLC
Highland Village, Texas, United States
KIRCHNER, Beverly – Beverly Kirchner is the Chief Compliance Officer for SurgeryDirect, an ambulatory surgery center development, and management company. Ms. Kirchner co-founded SurgeryDirect in 2015 and served as its first Chief Nursing Officer and COO.
In her newest role, Ms. Kirchner is responsible for designing and leading the enterprise's compliance strategy, ensuring compliance with laws, regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures. She is also responsible for developing, coordinating, and conducting compliance training and managing compliance risk throughout customers nationwide.
Before co-founding SurgeryDirect, Ms. Kirchner developed, managed, and consulted on creating more than fifty-five (55) ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs). Opening her first ASC in 1985, she saw ambulatory surgery as cutting-edge healthcare (it was, at that time) and where she belonged. Her career has been focused there ever since.
As an award-winning speaker, published author, and recognized subject matter expert, Ms. Kirchner has taught and spoken globally on leading healthcare topics, including Volume vs. Value: ASC Transition to Value-based Care, The ASC Administrator's Course: Make QAPI Work for You, Physician and Nurse Collaboration and Future Trends and Challenges in an ASC.
In her career, Ms. Kirchner has spent over 30 years overseeing materials management and procurement in ASCs. She remembers procuring products when par levels were just becoming popular. Later, Ms. Kirchner worked with developing just-in-time (JIT) delivery strategies for her ASCs. She embraced LEAN and its efficiencies for ensuring the product was available when needed. Ms. Kirchner has now pivoted once again as the pandemic changed the supply chain and ASCs scrambled to find PPE and other supplies competing with hospitals for allocations.
Ms. Kirchner has been an active member of several governing boards and advisory committees such as the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN), the Ambulatory Surgery Center Quality Collaboration (ASCQC), OR Manager Advisory Board (magazine) and the Texas Council of periOperative Registered Nurses (TCORN) as President. She has also received several honors and awards throughout her career, such as the AORN Mentorship Award and the Same Day Surgery Star Award for Outstanding Contributions to the ASC Industry.
One of the greatest joys in Ms. Kirchner's life is being able to help in the continued advancement of the ambulatory care industry.
